In Arabic, Essaouira means “Little picture”. And, literally, Essaouira is a little picture. A small, breezy town with a wide beach, blue&white painted houses in Medina, with dozen of art galleries and boutiques. Despite being popular, Essaouira remains unaffected time and tourism. No wonder why, the Medina of Essaouira is listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Don’t forget to take your camera. The picturesque fishing harbour attracts photographers from all over the world.
You always can reach Essaouira by bus from Marrakech. However, it’s not as convenient as the day tour. To take a bus, you will need to go to the station, bargain with the taxi driver and hope tickets will not be sold out (especially on weekends and in the hot season).
The shared day tour from Marrakech to Essaouira will start at 8 am. On the way, if you are lucky, you will see the famous goats in the trees (although not always there). After 3 hours drive, you will reach Essaouira. There, you will have time to explore the beautiful Medina, fish port (a must) and other spots.
In Essaouira, you will have time till around 4 pm and after will move back to Marrakech. The return is scheduled around 7 pm.
